Built by the Dionigi the Great, the Urbica Gate is a part of the city wall of Siracusa. Today of it remains the base on two towers.

An excavation in Via XX Settembre shows the remains of the ancient Porta Urbica (Urbica Gate), built by Dionysius the Great (430 BC – 367 BC.) and inserted into the 30 km length wall which surrounded the all city, from Ortigia up to Eurialo castle.

Today it is possible to admire the base of two square towers of more than 8 meters per side, which probably allowed access to a road linking Apollo’s temple to that of Athena.
