The port of Siracusa is divided into three sections: Porto Grande and Porto Marmoreo (or Piccolo), on opposite sides of the island of Ortigia, and the bay of Santa Panagia north of Siracusa.

A seafaring city by vocation, Siracusa has always had a special relationship with the sea that surrounds it as if in an embrace.
Its shores have welcomed sailors from all over the world for millennia and still today there are many tourists who reach the city by sea.
The port of Siracusa, despite being a unique port structure, is divided into three sections:
Porto Grande and Porto Marmoreo (or Porto Piccolo), which occupy the two opposite sides of the island of Ortigia, and the bay of Santa Panagia to the north of Siracusa.

Located right in the city center, Porto Grande is a private landing place consisting of floating piers, equipped with anchoring equipment and services, with a mooring capacity of 150 boats and a draft ranging from 6.00 to 15.00 meters.
Mainly exposed to Grecale and Scirocco, it is characterized by an average depth of 5 meters, muddy and subject to burial, as it consists of the contributions of the Anapo river, famous for the papyrus that grows spontaneously along its banks.

Here the Siracusa-Malta international regatta takes place, defined as the oldest Mediterranean regatta, organized by the Italian Naval League, section of Siracusa, and by the Royal Malta Yacht Club, which every year sees about 100 yachts compete in different classes (race, cruise and classic).

Porto Piccolo or Porto Marmoreo, located in the innermost part of the arsenal, home to the reclaimed Syrako lagoon, is separated from Porto Grande by an artificial isthmus, to connect the island of Ortigia with the opposite promontory of the inner Acradina district.

Today it has several landings: Banchina Santa Lucia; Landing S. Lucia; Italian Naval League; Sailing Club Rebellion; Aretusa Sailing Club; Lakkios Yacht Club.
A curiosity: it was celebrated by historians for the new arsenal wanted by Dionysius near the Acropolis, the fortress with the tyrant's palace identified by us on the current isthmus.

Finally, the bay of Santa Panagia, north of Siracusa. It includes the docking pier for petrochemical activities and a refuge port, built to house tugs to assist oil tankers in the landing stages and a small flotilla of fishing boats, a shipyard and boats for pleasure boating.
