Every self-respecting traveler always brings home the taste of the typical products of the place he visits.
Those who decide to visit Syracuse will never forget the intense taste and smell of Siracusa IGP oranges and lemons.

The PGI Siracusa lemon belongs to the cultivation of the Syracusan feminello and its clones that produces three blooms: the primofiore, the bianchetto and the verdello
Called "The gold of Siracusa":  this magnificent fruit is characterized by a high juice content and the richness of oil glands in the peel, as well as the high quality of essential oils.
To have another unforgettable flavor, just move a few kilometers and you can come across the Strawberry of Cassibile one of the most important agricultural products of the Syracusan area.

Grown in the area of the homonymous hamlet south of Syracuse, it is now considered a product of excellence all over the world.
It has large, dark red fruits rich in sugars and vitamins and has a truly unmistakable flavor.

From the excellence of fruit to the excellence of dried fruit, it is a short step in the province of Syracuse. You will never forget the flavor of Avola Almonds: with the denomination "Almond of Avola" only three cultivars are indicated:
Pizzuta, Fascionello, Romana: the finest on the international market.
They can be used as a natural anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, valuable dietary supplement, rich in nutrients as well as an ingredient for many traditional cuisine.

Continuing south we meet another product that has now become famous all over the world, this is the Pachino IGP tomato.
A protected geographical indication, the vegetable does not belong to the traditional agriculture of the island, being a variety imported from Israel, it has now been adopted and cultivated with visceral love by the inhabitants of the Pachino and neighboring areas, so much so that it has now taken its name of Pachino Cherry or Pachino Tomato.
This wonder of nature classifies and protects four varieties of tomato: the Ciliegino PGI, the Costoluto PGI, the Tondo smooth PGI and the Grappolo PGI.

Going up towards Syracuse, a tour of the Ortigia fish market is not to be missed. Aromas and flavors mix in the street of the market beading the air of the goodness of the Ionian fish.
If you want to remember the smell and taste of the Syracusan sea, a tour of the colorful stalls is a must. The taste of the fish from the Ortigia Market is not to be missed.

Entering the north of the province it is a must to try the legendary Sausage of Palazzolo Acreide: More proteins, more carbohydrates, less unsaturated fats, rich in Omega 3 and 6, double iron levels compared to other meats.
The traditional sausage of Palazzolo Acreide is obtained from the processing of the Sicilian black pig and represents a panacea for the Mediterranean diet, as also certified by a recent study by the University of Messina.
