In modern style, the Church of San Tommaso is  considered the main “Memorial of the Victims of the First World War”.

It is called the Pantheon of Syracuse.

The Church of St. Thomas is also known as the “Pantheon of Siracusa”. This is considered the main “Memorial of the Victims of the First World War”, because within it lie the remains of the Syracusan soldiers perished during the First World War.

Designed by Gaetano Rapisardi, the structure built in 1919, is modern in style with a circular shape. Large pillars divided by large windows support a terrace which has some windows surmounted by stone crosses.
On top of the church is placed a small bell tower in reinforced concrete.
