Between the most beautiful monuments of whole Sicily and with an old history, the Duomo of Siracusa has a beautiful baroque facade and the interiors are rich of preocius works.

You are in the heart of Ortigia, in Duomo Square. Next to you are some of the most beautiful buildings in Siracusa, above all the Arethusean cathedral.

Inside, one of the most popular monuments in doric style of the Sicily is hid: the Temple of Atena, built in V century B.C. by the dictator Gelone following the winner against the Carthaginians in the Imera battle.

The baroque facade with soft lines, the big doric columns, the staircase are accompanied by marmoral statues of Apostle Pietro and Paolo, the curvilinear pediment with the royal coat of arms with the eagle, the limestone image of the Virgin Mary, which is dedicated the Church, the statue of the matron Saint Lucia: these and more over make the facade of the church one of the most beautiful in Sicily
