The beauties of Siracusa are accessible to all kinds of travelers and the city represents an excellent example at national level of how even the most difficult barriers can be broken down.

Every week at the Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Lacrime a Sunday Mass is celebrated in the Italian and English language of the signs in favor of deaf people.
In addition, videos were created and ten different routes in Lis (Italian Sign Language) between Siracusa and Noto which include the Cathedral of Siracusa, the Maniace castle, the Latomie dei Cappuccini, the church of Santa Lucia alla Badia, the church of San Giovanni and the Catacombs, the Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Lacrime, the Paolo Orsi archaeological museum.
Within the entire archaeological park of Neapolis, the main monuments of the city of Noto and the Vendicari nature reserve, the tour guides are accompanied by an interpreter.

In addition, since 2012 the Greek Theater of Siracusa has been the first stone theater in the world where a whole day is organized with two interpreters who translate the classical performances into sign language.

For blind and visually impaired people, tactile maps have been installed at the sites of major tourist interest.

In the esplanade of the Fonte Aretusa, popularly known as the Fountain of the Ducks, there is a plaque in Braille that tells the story and the myth of that place. Furthermore, the Paolo Orsi Museum Complex has an entirely tactile part, even in the area dedicated to numismatics with coins made in Braille.

In this sense, the Corrado Basile private papyrus museum also excels. In the former convent of Sant’Agostino in Ortigia, a tactile and sensory pole with the scent of jasmine was created. Always remaining in the context of private structures, the Leonardo da Vinci museum in Ortigia also pays particular attention to tactile visits.

Remaining in Ortigia, the Monte Vergini Gallery is totally accessible, as is the Church of Santa Lucia alla Badia, in Piazza Duomo, where a great masterpiece by Caravaggio is kept "The burial of Santa Lucia" where a ramp has been built.
